United Metallurgical Company has taken part in the 14th International Exhibition “Turkmenistan Oil and Gas” and the International Scientific Conference “Development of the Turkmenistan Oil and Gas Industry and International Cooperation under New Renaissance,” held in Ashkhabad November 17–19.
OMK Vice President Eduard Stepantsov addressed the forum participants in his report “OMK – Global Supplier of Pipes for Hydrocarbon Transportation Systems,” where he highlighted OMK’s real capacity to offer its foreign partners high-quality products.
Russian pipe manufacturers, and United Metallurgical Company in particular, find the Turkmen market very important and interesting due to optimistic growth prospects,” emphasized Eduard Stepantsov. “United Metallurgical Company’s distinguishing features include large-scale investments made in modernization and the development and production of new promising types of products manufactured to highest international standards. That is why we have reasons to be proud of our cooperation with the world's largest partners, which sure enough include Turkmen companies.”
In recent years, OMK has supplied under different projects more than 300 thousand tonnes of pipes to Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, and on several occasions acted as a bidder for the supply of products to Turkmenistan for Turkmengaz, Turkmenneft, and Turkmengeologiya.
“OMK is able to make hydrogen-sulfide-resistant pipes for the Central Asia region,” emphasized Eduard Stepantsov. “This ability is based on our products’ relevant certificates and OMK’s experience in major and vital international projects.”

In 2008, OMK products accounted for 16% of pipes consumed in Russia, including 35% of large diameter pipes, 63% of railroad wheels, and 80% of automobile springs. In 2008, the OMK enterprises produced 1.5 million tonnes of pipes of various sizes and 783 thousand railroad wheels. The main consumers of OMK products include such leading Russian and foreign companies as Gazprom, Russian Railways, LUKOIL, Transneft, Surgutneftegas, Rosneft, TNK-BP, ExxonMobil, Royal Dutch/Shell, General Electric, and Samsung. OMK supplies its products to 20 countries.
